Current Offerings
Learning
Studio
Early Literacy through the Arts for children ages 0-first grade and their caregivers. Create, build language skills, and learn together! The Learning Studio will offer visual arts, music, dance, drama and storytelling to introduce communication, both verbal and non-verbal. Watch online by visiting the Museum's YouTube page or see episodes on NB Cable Access Channel 9. Free.
Invest in Kids: Exploring My City Through Art
Guided by professional visual art educators and collaborating with local public school after school, youth will learn about the culture, history and geography of the city in which they live and create artwork based on their learning from field trips and their life experiences. Free.
Kidzone
Led by an art educator on Sundays, this program is an intergenerational family friendly program for kids between the ages of 4-12 years old. Families can enjoy an afternoon of art activities with their children and family for only $5 for the whole family.
artMOBILE
Bright purple vans and experienced art educators engage children with fun, educational art activities at community sites across NB and the SouthCoast. The artMOBILE schedule is available online. Open to the public. Free. We also will book for events during the weekends in the community. Fee depends on services required.
The Creative Care program provides art care kits to seniors in the Greater New Bedford area.
Outdoor & In-Gallery Art Classes
Available for kids, teens, and adults--the Art Museum provides a variety of outdoor and socially safe classes and workshops throughout the year. Try your hand at the potter's wheel, drawing and more. Scholarships and financial aid are available. Tuition based. Registration required.
Teen Artist Internship Program
Pairs up teens who want to pursue a career in the arts with artist mentors in the community. The internship runs for nine weeks and mentors and teens are given an exhibit and reception with a comprehensive brochure on the participants at the end of the program. Open to High School students. Competitive. Free.
