3rd EyE Youth Empowerment

3rd EyE was founded in 1998 by three New Bedford youth looking to do something positive and creative in their community. 20+ years later, the driving force of this all-volunteer organization continues to be youth and young adults who are interested in developing skills in leadership and community building. Opportunities include experience in music and video production, mentoring, networking, organizing, event planning, and community outreach.

3rd Eye Youth Empowerment engages, unites, and activates the community through hip hop culture and mentorship to become transformative leaders.

3rd EyE Youth Empowerment provides a rolling opportunity for youth and young adults (10-24)

to develop leadership skills via participation in as well as the creation and production

of community events and programs including:

5 Pillars & Your New Bedford: Mini hip hop pop ups that happen at community centers, parks, beaches and community events.

Youth Leadership Academy: An empowerment workshop series for kids 10-13.

Open Art Week: Monthly beginner art classes taught by local artists for kids 4 and up.

Doodles Sessions: Creative Chaos and Colorful Yoga pop ups for kids under 10.

3rd EyE Open: Annual Hip Hop Festival in downtown New Bedford featuring live music, dance exhibitions & battles, live street art, interactive activities and community programmers.

  • The Communal Space at 230 Union Street: A multi-cultural, multi-purpose arts cultivator, community space and modern art gallery.

  • Studio-Ish: Open to all ages, this monthly hang-out in the NB National Park Maker Space will provide opportunity for artists and creatives to mix, mingle, share ideas, work on projects and vibe out in a safe, supportive and inclusive space.
