The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Mass is to partner with under-resourced families to provide their children with transformational, one-to-one professionally-supported relationships with caring adult mentors, so that their children will thrive.
Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children ages 7-12 with volunteer mentors that help to empower and ignite their potential.
PROGRAMS OFFERED
Community Based Mentoring: Our traditional 1:1 mentoring program. Bigs & Littles meet out in the community, 2-3 times per month, for a few hours per outing.
Site-Based Mentoring: 1:1 mentoring at Carney School during a student’s lunch period 1x per week during the school year.
Campus Based Mentoring: Mentoring on Saturdays at UMass Dartmouth with a college Big during the school year. This program is in partnership with the New Bedford Housing Authority and a member of our Campus Based program team leads activities for a portion of the program.
No matter what program, all children are matched with a thoroughly screened volunteer mentor that is professionally supported by a BBBS staff member.
