Membership-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration, protection and sustainable use and enjoyment of our irreplaceable bay and its watershed.  We work to improve the health of the bay ecosystem for all through education, conservation, research and advocacy.

Programs include:

Onset Bay Center

Everyone who lives on Buzzards Bay should have access to experience its natural wonders.  The Coalition's new Onset Bay Center offers high-quality on-the-water programs.  Through a variety of outdoor activities such as paddling, rowing, shellfishing, and shoreline ecology, the center helps community members of all ages build a personal connection with our local environment. We bring education outdoors with numerous programs offered year round to Wareham and Greater New Bedford students.

Bay Adventures

Free public programs from Fall River-Falmouth that include outdoor activities for families, like Saturday at the Sawmill, for Itty Bitty Explorers (kids under five), and for adults.  Bay Adventures aim to connect people to the Buzzards Bay Watershed and to foster environmental stewardship, curiosity and care for our beautiful Bay.  Some programs include Kayaking, Quahogging, Geocaching, Birding, Biking, Swimming, and Trail Runs.

School Experiential Trips and Bay Discovery Days

The Coalition is redefining the classroom by offering students at New Bedford Public Schools and New
Bedford summer camp programs the opportunity to turn their local environment into a living classroom at
Buzzards Bay Coalition conservation properties. No two trips are the same, with tailored hands-on lesson
plans created for each trip by BBC staff that are designed to build upon classroom lessons with real-life
scientific field work outdoors, increase student confidence outdoors, and foster a sense of connection
with participants’ local natural spaces and Buzzards Bay. All lessons are designed for the ages of the
group and fulfill Massachusetts state standards (as applicable). Experiential learning field trips are free of
cost and available year-round at BBC properties for groups of 30 students or less. Contact tweeddale@savebuzzardsbay.org to schedule a trip.

Scholarships and financial aid are available.
